Cleaning and facilities jobs as promised by wework

This preview shows page 6 - 8 out of 8 pages.

Recommendations/Outcomes: - Cleaning and facilities jobs, as promised by WeWork, will be outsourced to JLL or one of its partners with the same level of pay. - Employees are still dissatisfied with the changes, worrying they would significantly change their schedules and lead to a loss of benefits. - Whoever did not accept the outsourcing to another partner firm would immediately lose his/her job. - Some employees are convinced that the company does not care for their welfare and only cares about saving money. - WeWork is facing a tough situation considering the significant losses it dealt with. Laying off employees, at this point, is a must until it gets back on its feet. The company did what it could by offering its workers’ jobs at other locations with the same amount of pay that they used to get. While it may be inconvenient for some, it is the best that the company could do at this time. Measurement Plan: - In terms of layoffs, I would measure the company’s financial performance in the next quarter to evaluate the decisions made. Company Culture Company’s current culture: Office spaces that transforms buildings into dynamic environments for creativity, focus, and connection. By providing services that inspire productivity, innovation, and collaboration.

Issues: Sexism: -WeWork gave out 58 stock awards worth $1 million to 94% of them went to men -Executive accused WeWork in her lawsuit of ignoring her when she tried to call attention to the pay gap, ultimately putting her on leave -Accusation of compensation imbalance between men and women -None of the directors of the company are women, and only 20% of the people who would report to the CEO Adam Neumann are women -There are currently no women among the board members, Board members are also not diverse enough Party Culture -Culture has been described as an entitled, frat boy culture that permeates it form the top to bottom -Drinking culture in the company has been described as pervasive and problematic -Another former executive, sued the company, alleging sexual harassment, after reporting two sexual harassment incidents and being ignored by Human Resources. Ultimately being fired -In 2016 after discussing the possibilities of lay offs in order to cut costs, CEO Adam Neumann treated employees to tequila shots and a performance by a member of Run - DMC -He asked his staff to fire 20% of the employees each year -His wife and cofounder also requested that some employees be fired after meeting with them for a few minutes Recommendations: Their current culture needs to be redefined and restructured. New CEO and Human Resources need to define the values, goals, and overall atmosphere of their work environment. Employees need to be able to find value in the organization’s goals that were set. CEO also needs to follow the company’s culture that is put into place. Employees need to have an example to follow. If there is a lack of trust and of engagement employees will find little motivation to follow the organization’s culture. There needs to be an initiative taken to implement diversity amoung the organization.
