 Don’t really work well together, they fight amongst themselves
 Been doing a lot more very recently
o The Arab League decided to back U.S. and NATO in invading
Libya….why?? Isn’t Libya mostly Arab?
 Yes, but Gaddafi recanted his arabness and pulled Libya out of
Arab League couple of times during his 40 years, insulted Arab
leaders/league
 Turned Libya to Africa, and made Libya into leader of African
Union. His passion and his money that got newly refined African
Union underway – the modern version
Arab League just renounced Syrian leader Bashir and said NO! (Syrian is mostly Arab
too, but it hasn’t been a Team Arab Player – Syria and Bashir have been buddies with
Team Persia --- Iran)
New Found energy, more untied than ever before
 Arab league might rejuvenate and that’s a good thing, but
 Natural Leaders – classically and today: - big countries, big populations
 Egypt – 70, 80, 90 million people
 Saudi Arabia – 30, 40, 50 million people
 Gulf States
 Also don’t like Iran

