Scavenger HuntSentinel City offers a variety of resources at different sites located throughout the community. The parks and recreation department offers many services including a park, facilities and multiple programs such as swimming lessons, gardening classes and after school care (Sentinel City, 2018). Healthcare services present for the elderly include medical care advocates, government entitled assistance, transportation, community centers, service animals, meals on wheels and elder abuse prevention. There are also different housing options available to seniors in the form of independent living, assisted living, nursing homes and long term acute care facilities (Sentinel City, 2018). City Hall offers social services like adult and child protective services, healthcare assistance, WIC and SNAP (Sentinel City, 2018). The community health center provides various screenings for STDs, breast and cervical cancer as well as family planning and preventive healthcare (Sentinel City, 2018). Assistance with meals can be found at the soup kitchen where food is provided to the homeless population (64% adult and 3% children), veterans, disabled, elderly and also a small percentage of healthy adults and children

Data AnalysisAfter spending time in Sentinel City there were many areas in need of improvement and attention in order to enhance the health of the community. Access to healthcare services was a problem which in turn causes an impact on the resident’s physical, social and mental health, as well as their quality of life (“Access to Health Services,” 2014). Teen pregnancy and STD rates were concerning and efforts should be enacted to help lower them. There was also a lot of trashpresent throughout the city with vermin running about. Poor environmental hygiene and improper disposal of garbage can lead to disease, negatively impacting the health and development of communities (“Global Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH),” 2015). The prevalence of alcohol consumption and tobacco use in Sentinel City can have short and long-term effects on the community and create economic burdens (“Alcohol and Public Health,” 2018). Other problems noted included a low rate of food security as evidenced by the roughly 40,000 meals served by the soup kitchen monthly, the presence of gang violence as evidenced by the 198 reported incidences last year and the lack of outdoor space (Sentinel City, 2018). C. Community Diagnosis for Sentinel CityC1. Three Problems As mentioned above there are many areas in which Sentinel City can improve but the three problems that stuck out to me were the lack of access to healthcare, the prevalence of cigarette smoking and the incidence of teen pregnancy. Lack of access to healthcare is an issue
