Conclusion Anyone that believes he or she can compare his or her leadership style with a historical icon and civil rights leader, such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. definitely will fall short. One can only aspire to accomplish and achieve the goals set and accomplish by this man. Successful leadership requires a strong individual. Although leadership can be taught, a successful leader involves the individual to possess various leadership qualities. There are various kinds of leadership styles. The author chose to focus the paper on what is considered to be the main three which include autocratic, democratic, and laissez-faire. The author believes her style to be closely associated with democratic. Democratic leadership is the style the author feels best describes Dr. King’s successful leadership style. The tools are available to improve and become a successful leader but the iniative must be taken.
