between $10,000 to $50,000 (Experian:SmartBusinessReports, 2015) Compare to its competitors, ShopRite is spending a lot more but the output is still low quality. In collaboration with IBM and Agilysys, the system was to enhance the shopper’s experience. Wakefern also upgraded ShopRite stores with IBM Electronic Marketing Enterprise (EME) solution. This system enable “employees to access shoppers data” to assist in providing excellent customer service. (ProgressiveGrocer, 2008) However, the system was sufficient back in 2008. Compared to other grocery stores upgrade in technology would assist ShopRite to enhance its market share and provide an even better service within the POS terminal. In analyzing ShopRite’s structure and information system deficiency, our business team believes there are alternative solutions to enhance the business. The current system is limited in data storage and does not have the ability to send receipts and coupon via email or phone. In addition, the system does not provide a high level of intimacy that ShopRite Stores is requiring. Alternative Solutions a) Recognize and examine customer transactions and purchasing patterns. b) Develop a secure and stable information system infrastructure would capable to store a large number of customer data, as Shop Rite has a large number of stores in the New Jersey / New York region. c) The three vendors that can handle a project this capacity are Salesforce, Zendesk, and ERP 21(TGI).
