I prepare substantive legal arguments related to my field, review government actions related to clients, prepare necessary information for clients who wish to pursue IP, and partake in enforcement activities such as the preparation of cease and desist letters.” • “Yes, the vast majority of my work is substantive and appropriate for my level. Often, I get the opportunity to work on assignments meant for senior associates.” • “I am doing substantive litigation work, keeping in mind my status as a third-year. I’m regularly given dispositive motions, second-chair deposition opportunities, etc. I would like to get more opportunities to participate in trials and appear before judges, but I understand those will come.” Training & Mentoring • “The formal training was pretty quick and it focused on some technology tools that I do not use often. I think it could have done a lot more to focus on the document management system. That said, there is a great deal of information available to associates to learn more. However, there aren’t really any meaningful post-associate, non-partner roles outside of counsel, which is still on the partner track. Exit opportunities are excellent for associates—I’ve had calls and offers to go in-house from major companies across several industries, including clients. If nothing else, I’ll appreciate my time here for the great opportunities it gave me to go in-house.” • “Promotion to partner is certainly realistic, but Venable

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
