The focus that I have for my topic though is precisely PTSD outside the military.Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder has been all over the place for many years until the wars and conflicts the situation never truly got the attention that it deserves. When you compare how things where from the war in Vietnam to the current conflicts resulting from the events of September 11th. Looking at the Vietnam War, the conditions of which battles took place were to the extreme. There were service members exposed to some of the worst conditions that we have ever seen for the first time. During the war the things that were experienced hada great effect on the service members the results were limitless, some of those in which a men once they returned home with no legs. The jobs of those at the time was known as tunnelrats. They were the men that where sent into the tunnels dug by the North Vietnamese, they entered with only a flashlight, a knife, and a pistol due to the limited spaces. This meant that they were engaging the enemy at point blank range. This exposed these men to extreme violence and images that would stick with them forever. The Vietnam War was also a time where people really started experiencing the use of non-military personnel such as children and women to be used as suicide bombers.
