After I got home and told Emily my predicament, she simply said, “Get in the car.” As I fought back tears, she drove me to the crowded mall. We made our way through the crowds and found the sweater I wanted to buy for our mom. “But I only have $50, and it costs $25 more,” I sobbed. “Here,” she said, as she handed me two tens and a five dollar bill. “You can pay me back when you get the money. And I won’t even charge you for gas money for driving you here. But you owe me, you dork.” I was flabbergasted, but I shouldn’t have been. Once again, Emily came to my rescue. We made our way to the checkout and home again, where I wrapped the present for my mom and looked forward to seeing her smiling face, all thanks to my hero sister. Emily saving my—let’s just say, neck—is not our only connection, though. Whether it is having a food fight while baking cupcakes, or telling me I was adopted as a baby, Emily knows how to get to me. I pretend it bugs me, but honestly, I am glad I have a sister who likes to tease me. In some weird way, it even makes us closer. We get to pick our friends, but we don’t get to choose our family. Luckily, Emily and I ended up together, and I cannot imagine going through my childhood without her.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
