Introducing New Products
5 Running head: ARNOLD PALMER HOSPITAL ’ S © SUPPLY CHAIN For the new hip joint replacement product, Dr. Smith would need to introduce it to the Medical Economic Outcomes Committee. The product will then be evaluated and negotiated for any options (Heizer & Render, 2011). In Conclusion APH has taken the necessary style available to make sure that they are supplied with the best products at the best prices. By evaluating their current situation they saw the needed to form a small but powerful corporation to ensure savings on further purchases of the supplies that are needed (Heizer & Render, 2011). In 2003, Healthcare Purchasing Alliance (HPA) was formed. HPA saved the members $7 million in the first year alone, because of two main changes. In addition, they were able to negotiate a better deal with vendors (Heizer & Render, 2011). In the end because of their wise decisions to form HPA, it became a winning endeavor. And now that APH can be more creative, they are able to develop custom products that not only save them money, but they are also able to receive additional substantial benefits too (Heizer & Render, 2011). This makes for a better hospital and satisfied staff members. References
