violence in the community. The second and third community resource is based in Sentinel City
there are several assistance programs there. There are shelter and safe houses. In the event
someone is either esaping gang member and is seeking a way out they would be able to stay in a
safe house. Also, victims of an attack also may benefit from staying in a safe house. Finally. the
third community resource is group treatment and support. It’s important for victims and people in
gangs to feel like that they have
support and that they are not alone. Being able to speak about
your fears in a judgement free zone is extremely important for healing of the trauma to take
place.

C3. Identification of Primary Prevention Topic
The primary prevention topic that was chosen is how to prevent violence in a community.
Society should begin with educating parents on how to properly raise a child in the correct way.
The community must first start with love and nourishing our children. Showing our youth that
there is a better way of life can make a huge difference. A child that is a bully may have a father
in the house that is an alcoholic and he may be directing his anger unto the child that is a bully
causing a viscous cycle. Beginning in the household is the first step. Providing education to
parents on how to properly raise children can assist in a more loving society. Children going
through peer pressure can easily slip into the wrong path of life. The school system can also offer
enriching programs and activities to keep the students busy so that they are not distracted by
outside influences. Providing positive field trips may keep them on the right path of life and
provide inspiration.
Also, children can have the opportunity to speak to past gang members so
that they can be educated on outcomes of their negative actions as a child and what led them to
be who they are today.
D. Application of Learning from Simulation to Future Community Assessment Strategies
By going through the simulation environment, I learned how to analyze problem areas in
a community and how to gather resources to solve the issues. For example, the sanitation system
in the community was not up to par for a society. Being a responsible citizen by throwing away
trash or picking up litter in front of your house can add to the sanitation solution. As a mother
baby nurse, I can help the community by providing education to new parents on how to be a
positive role model. If everyone can contribute in taking small steps it can lead to completing the
journey.
