(ii)Positive Experiences Amazing things I have learned throughout this experience include working alongside the owner and learning as much as possible from their professionalism, punctuality, and work ethics. My manager certainly resembled all the great attributes of an owner since the owner tends to be a role model for their employees. Secondly, I witnessed a critical and pressuring phase a company
A REFLECTIVE JOURNAL 7 was going through since they are in a growing phase. As such, I was able to know what investors are looking for in a potential growing company. Other positive factors are as follows: Understanding how companies deal with an outsourced PR and marketing firm, preparing and flowing up on press requests and returns, following up on press coverage. How to create excel sheets to monitor stock movements and keeping journals How to professionally deal with unsatisfied clients, respond to multiple emails while prioritizing tasks allocated How important it is for a brand to have a story, connect with customers, have a strong vision, and most importantly develop a solid Ethos to differentiate themselves from other brands How to develop stronger communication skills with colleagues, as well as with clients, and how to close the sale and not manipulate walk in customers in order to generate revenue for the business Analysis The events that took place in the company provided a clear picture of what happens in the real life situation in the fashion industry. As seen above, some organizational activities that we did entailed teamwork and division of work. Working as a team provides an essential opportunity for one to build on their confidence and skills because of the input made in the team. Some activities that influenced me mostly include the organizing events such as meeting the client and confirming the event, creating invitations, and posting the event. For instance, I would create
A REFLECTIVE JOURNAL 8 event sales template and ensure that the working Rota was up to date. While my colleagues would initiate the initial sale process and deal with the logistics of hosting an event, I was playing a crucial role of replying to the emails and calls, among other duties. Using the reflective practice of Bassot (2013) on metaphorical mirrors, I believe the achievements that one makes in a dynamic situation like the one I encountered can be a suitable reflection of the personal efficiency. Using one’s previous experience as a lens plays the center role in self-reflection (Brookfield, 1995). The experience in the Lucy Choi Company showed my ability to show resilience to pressure and my ability to improvise new ways of handling challenging jobs.
