on our campus. Through educational outreach and our  adjudication process, we strive to teach students about the  university’s values regarding academic integrity and how  these values will provide a solid moral framework with  which we may work for the rest of our lives. We invite all students, faculty, and staff to act with  integrity both on campus and while representing the  university in the Boulder community and beyond so that we may demonstrate with pride what it means to be affiliated  with our great university.” 5
Dr. Jenny Withycombe. ETHN 3024: Introduction to Critical Sport Studies: Summer 2016: Syllabus Online Classroom Behavior: Students and faculty each have responsibility for maintaining an appropriate learning environment. Those who fail to adhere to such behavioral standards may be subject to discipline. Professional courtesy and sensitivity are especially important with respect to individuals and topics dealing with differences of race, color, culture, religion, creed, politics, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity and gender expression, age, disability, and nationalities (a major part of this class). Class rosters are provided to the instructor with the student's legal name. I will gladly honor your request to address you by an alternate name or gender pronoun. Please advise me of this preference early in the semester so that I may make appropriate changes to my records. See policies at: and at: . My Late Policy: The class is NOT self-paced, and all work needs to be done in the required time frame.  All assignments are due by the date and time they are listed to be due on your  syllabus. Late work will not be except in the case of severe emergencies. In those  rare cases, I expect you to notify me ideally before the assignment is due or within  one day of the due date and to provide valid documentation. Do not email or drop off assignments in my mailbox. All assignments need to be submitted through the  Dropbox function on D2L. My Extra Credit policy: I offer LIMITED  extra credit assignments - you have plenty of chances to accrue points  throughout the semester.  These points (max 20 points) will be added to your overall class score.  They can help you improve your grade if you are on the borderline.  All  reflections should be 1-2 pages, double spaced and placed into the Extra Credit Dropbox  by the last day of classes. Attend a sporting event on campus or in the community and provide a  sociological critique of the event (e.g., observe the BouldertoBoulder Race and  report on possible gender and/or race differences). 10 points Watch a Sport Documentary and/or a Mainstream Sport Film and provide a  sociological critique.  **If you choose a Hollywood portrayal be sure to analyze
