Assignment Description Assigned / Due Submit Pts Career Topic Presentation This assignment is intended to help you further develop and practice your presentation skills . You will create and deliver an informational presentation that covers one of the previous career topics covered in class. The presentation should be prepared as if you were informing a college Freshman how to prepare for their career search. Refer to Katalyst for detailed information. k Feb. 9 th / April 21 st UMCC (Kran G-1) 50 Cover Letter Write a cover letter for a position or program you are interested in pursuing. Submit the following: Cover letter Resume (should be targeted towards the position) Copy of the job/program description There are samples in the handbook and on katalyst Feb. 16 th / Feb. 23 rd In class 50 Jung – Myers- Briggs Typology (MBTI) This is a personality assessment used to help you identify personal preferences which are useful in career development. Complete the online assessment Save the profile results page in *.pdf or *.xps format and upload it to katalyst Bring a copy of your profile to class for the discussion March 2 nd /March 9 th Katalyst 50 Cover Letter (revised) Review your cover letter feedback then meet with a 301 GA to go over your cover and discuss their suggestions. Submit both your revised and original cover letters. If you received a 50 on your cover letter you do not need to submit a revised version – you will automatically receive 25 points . March 9 th /March 23 th In class 25 Summer 2010 Survey What are you doing this summer (2010)? We use survey information to determine: the percentage of students that intern, who is hiring, who we need to recruit, competitive wages, and current placement trends. Additionally, this information is becoming more important in national rankings. Your detailed personal info will not be shared with anyone outside of Purdue. Select the session (“Summer 2010”) Select your current summer status. If your status changes (i.e. land an internship) please resubmit the survey.
