help them in certain situations. And the use of psychopharmaceuticals can help ease their suffering. But I definitely believe that before reaching for drugs other measures should be taken prior. And drugs should only be used when combined with other measures such as therapeutic options to help ensure that they can better themselves and not be dependent on the medication. Briefly describe at least two of the disorders that Braitman explains animals can suffer from. Animals can suffer from disorders such Trichotillamania which is the act of compulsive plucking. As well as PTSD which is common in canines that are coming back from war in places like Iraq and Afghanistan and are finding themselves having a hard time getting back into civilian life.

Why do veterinarians often ask about an animal’s behaviors and life during an office visit? Veterinarians often ask about the animal’s behaviors and life during a visit because they want to know exactly how the animal is behaving. If any behaviors don’t seem normal it could be a sign of mental illnesses. Since animals show their emotions through their behaviors. Why does Braitman say that we owe our entire psychopharmaceutical arsenal to animals? Explain. Drugs that we use today such as antianxiety or antidepressant meds were first tested in animals before they were released to the general public for consumption. How could thinking about an animal’s mental health influence veterinary care? An animal’s mental health can influence veterinary care because the mental aspect of our health is just as important as the physical. Mental health is directly correlated with our physical and emotional health. If one is affected they all end up in the same position. Since veterinarians have dedicated themselves to care for our animals, mental health should not be left out of the equation.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
