Rhetoric “Select and apply the appropriate conventions of personal, academic, or professional forms of expression (Merritt Writing Program).” In order to be a credible writer it is critical to be unbiased . One of the first things covered in this course is how academic tone affects your credibility. In all the writing assignments, the journals, the essays, and presentations I practiced the appropriate convention of expressing myself in the appropriate tone. Using rhetoric in my writing is a skill I have further developed in this course by writing multiple essays in which I was able to express my opinion in a manner which is persuasive, without being biased. Specifically in essay one and in the process of writing the research paper I learned how to apply rhetoric to my research by being credible. I learned that it’s important to select sources that address the counterarguments and reinforce why the problem I identified is a problem and why my solution is effective.
