My fiancé then sat next to me and I apologized and told him it was for a class and he laughed and offered me some of his candy. For the most part all of the people began to withdraw2themselves from the situation. The person space bubble did shift in size depending on the person and situation.How did I feel?In all honesty, with the exception of the encounter with my fiancé, I felt anxious before I acted. I was uncomfortable the entire time and my heart was pounding. My mind kept telling me that this whole situation was wrong. I had never felt such discomfort in a social situation even though I have social anxiety. I felt the most difficult part was explaining that it was for a class and worrying if the person would believe me. Unless it started to be a joke like the situation in the theater or with the dishwasher I felt embarrassed.Why are these norms in place?These norms are most likely in place to keep comfort and to keep relationships running smoothly and harmoniously.
