Organic shapes are utilized in the clouds. The use of two-dimensional space is represented by different shading and reflection of the buildings and other objects in the water. It does create a space where the artist allows you to imagine if you were in the picture during that time. There is a lot of use of white and light colors represented in the buildings. This seems to bring more life to the picture. The artist contrasts between light and dark colors to represent a “real life” environment. The use of light is reflected in the water. This picture suggests the time period of the Industrial Revolution. The audience can sense the importance of transportation and use of factories. The picture portrays how big the factories are compared to the train and the speediness and importance of transportation during these times.
