kill herself but she wants to decide how and where. Behavior – I think that Virginia's behavior was also above mild. As I said before, she seemed to be very socially awkward. She did not know how to act or speak to certain people. She was also afraid or intimidated by her house servants. Distress – I would say that this applies to how unhappy Virginia was overall and how she had many thoughts of suicide. She would not eat much and was just always writing.
Impairment – This might apply to Virginia's lack of social skills and also that she had some symptoms of schizophrenia. There were times when her or her husband would talk about "voices" that she would hear. Once you have your observations recorded, then think about which ones are consistent with one or more diagnoses from the current chapter. Which ones are inconsistent? I think the observation that is inconsistent is the emotion because as I said before, Virginia seems to lack a lot of emotion. Based on the diagnostic criteria, which of the disorders seems to be the best fit based on your observations? Be sure to include specific examples from the film.
