9 ASSESSMENT 1: SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS (SAQ) 1. Why is client's level of participation important in meeting their personal care needs? People perform best and are happier when they are participating and are in control of their daily activities. As a care worker you have the duty to support your clients in making decisions about and participating in their own care. Clients should be made aware of their fundamental rights, such as the right to dignity, privacy, confidentiality, choice and freedom of information. Choices made on their behalf without considering their personal interests, skills and preferences will have negative effect on the clients, including Delivery of care becoming more difficult and impossible Clients might think you are taking away their right to participate. Might think that they have lost the control over their life might contribute to decreased skills and independence in the client might develop stiffness if they are not encouraged to participate or move frequently. 2. Give three (3) examples of personal support requirements that may be included in a personal care support plan?
