People are getting married now at a much older age compared to before. Fewer traditional families. More adults living alone. Married couples without children. Explanations for these changes are related to the role of government such as its easier to get a divorce compared to how it was used to be. Cohabitation were people living together delays marriage and people don’t feel like they need to get married anymore. Increase in education such as post secondary education were people are establishing their careers before getting married. Changes in attitudes such as down playing the role of marriage and the feeling of independence. Women have become more selective of the partners that they have. Non traditional views. Reason for delayed childbirth: increases in post secondary school and cohabitation. 5. What are the primary findings of Moore’s study of gendered power relations? How do these findings bridge the gap between the sociology of the family and lesbian and gay studies?

Biological want to have more authority to make household decisions. Prefer to be economically independent of each other in case of divorce, the split will be less confusing. Bridge the gap -> stepparents tends to be less involved, lesbian families show that there is an equal structure. Since the literature might focus on stepfamilies or gays, this is the case were they are all intercepting. **6.
