Personality is important since it’s a reasonably social firm. The usual stuff (grades, journal, etc.) are all highly valued.” Interview Questions • “Many questions revolve around being a self-starter and being willing to take on ownership of projects. For a big firm, I think we have maintained a start-up mentality.” • “We are moving more towards questions that test critical thinking and practical skills (to the extent law school or 1L summer experience provides any of that). An example is: tell me about a memo you wrote; what were the legal issues; and what was your conclusion?” • “We are looking for mature, enthusiastic, promising attorneys. Interviewers are given freedom to ask their own questions. Interviewing is pretty typical, with 4-5 attorneys who are a mix of associates and partners.” • “We ask questions that assess a candidate’s applied intelligence (‘what qualities do you have that will make you a successful lawyer?’), interpersonal skills (‘how would your peers describe you?’), motivation (‘what accomplishment are you most proud of?’) and entrepreneurial qualities (‘tell me about a time you identified a problem and addressed it even though no one asked you to.’)” Lateral and Clerk Integration • “There is not a formal process for integration, but I think each lateral our group has taken on has been integrated nicely and fairly seamlessly.” • “The firm has tried to integrate me and made me feel welcome. I am generally not micro-managed, have the ability to choose my work and the people I work with, and have received great mentorship.” • “The partners here are genuinely caring and make a real effort to address associates’ concerns, but the workload can still become overwhelming at times.” • “Partners allow some flexibility to work around personal commitments and the work is generally very interesting.” Firm Culture • “There is a concerted effort among the associates to informally get together usually once per week. There are also formal events that the firm sponsors around once per month.”

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
