the way lost the love of Yurii. Tonia in her final letter gives Yurii permission to stay back with Lara, for she knows how he feels toward her and understand why now that she has gotten to know Larisa and spend time with her. She writes, “I must honestly admit that she is a good person, but I don’t want to be a hypocrite—she is my exact opposite. I was born to make life simple and to look for sensible solutions; she, to complicate it and create confusion.” (Pasternak, 415) Tonia’s farewell letter was the last he ever heard of her. Tonia had been the one to choose for him. She had to do what Yurii was never able to do. Although it her Tonia she accepted that she had missed the fire between her and Yurii, it had come and gone, now it was Lara’s turn. Poz Diaz, 5 did not know where to find Yura. Tonia lost the fight between her and Lara for Yurii’s love. Tonia and Lara are always Yurii’s motivation to return home. He loves both women, which is why it is extremely difficult for him to have to choose between the two. The Russian civil war was similar to the war that was going on within Yurii, to decide how he felt towards each woman. Love drives us crazy; it can lead to our destruction if we are not careful. Love and war are one in the same; both involve a lot of effort to result victorious.

Poz Diaz, 6 Reflection I honestly didn’t learn anything new in writing this essay. English is one of those subjects where you honestly just learn the rudiments and then after that you just improve your writing skills, new criteria isn’t necessarily learned. My thesis changed because before I had planned on writing about the effect the war had on the Zhivago family as a whole, but then it occurred to me that it would be much more interesting to write about how the war affects Yurii’s matrimony and in a way encourages him to have the affair with Lara. It is important to know about different literary criticism lenses, to have different approaches and method to analysis a literary work. I neither feel that it was simple or difficult to write this paper, honestly it was just as tedious as it has been the previous years to write this paper. The one think that I shall take from writing this paper into my senior year is that I earned my ticket out of high school.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
