A tactic that was incredibly successful for Disney was that of pin trading. This was an incredible way for guest to interact with cast members as well as other guests. It opened a way to start a conversation with others and therefore, enhancing the guest experience. It was another way for guests to feel involved Disney started this in 1999 for the millennium celebration and it continues to be successful today. It was also a huge success for Disney from a sales perspective. Purpose: Creating a personalized experience using technology Strategy: Disney desires to create an individual experience for their guests and use technology that their customers are using. Tactic: Disney is testing the use of a customized Magic Band that guests can wear during their stay at Disney. These bands can be purchased in advanced and pre-loaded with all your vacation plans that you decide. They are lightweight, flexible wristbands that will effortlessly connect you to the park experiences. For example, it gives you access to the park, Fast passes can be pre-loaded for attractions and character engagement appointments can be made. They can also be updated easily using your free mobile or tablet application anytime and anywhere.
