Paragraphs A paragraph is a group of sentences built around one main idea or point Ensure that the focus of each paragraph is clear and obvious To achieve this start a paragraph with a topic sentence This presents the main idea Follow the topic sentence with comment sentences that explain, discuss and analyse the main idea in the paragraph Structure of Paragraphs This is where the idea is presented & the reader expects to read further detail in the rest of the paragraph Topic sentence Your evidence should support the idea that you have presented in some way Evidence • This is where your ‘voice’ is given a space.
