Arriving at the shore in Gennesaret, again, the crowds came rushing to get healed for they knew of Jesus and saw him immediately. Of course the crowds for the 5000 being fed searched for Jesus and saw that he was gone, but then found him again in Capernaum, (Smith 2012:126). 3

Overview of the life & ministry of Christ Here three things happened; First, Jesus confronts them, for he saw they want him to provide food to them, not believing the miracles nor the message but wanting him to feed them like God fed the Israelites in the desert, (Smith 2012:127). Second, Jesus brings a message to the Jews that conflict with what they believe. Jesus claims to have come down from heaven to which they objected because they knew his family, (Smith 2012:127). Also, they took his words literally when he stated that eternal life is gained when one eats of his body and drink of his blood, (Smith 2012:127). Third, Jesus set a challenge to the disciples way of thinking, not only the twelve following him but the rest of them as well, for they didn’t understand what he meant by the claim towards the Jews. As a result many stopped following Jesus, where after Jesus left the region on Galilee and shifted his focus more to equipping and teaching his twelve disciples, for the hatred from the religious leaders only escalated, (Smith 2012:128). After the conflict event the Pharisees came to Jesus claiming that his disciples are not unclean, to which Jesus tells a parable and settle this thing of food being unclean as well. Jesus point out that it is not through ritual things and religious ways of getting clean, but what goes on in your heart leads to uncleanness. In Mark 7:20-23 Jesus lists the sins that makes a heart unclean, the only time Jesus listed sins, (Smith 2012:129). Jesus then withdrew to Tyre and Sidon, where he found this Greek woman who persisted to ask him to heal her demon-possessed daughter, (Smith 2012:131-132). Thereafter he left this region and went to Decapolis where he healed many people and fed 4000 people,(Smith 2012:132-133). The Pharisees and Sadducees claimed not to believe the signs and wonders witnessed and demanded a even greater sign. Their hardened hearts just continued to harden more and they grew more bitterness towards the Son of God, (Smith 2012:134). Then going to Bethsaida, a crowd brought a blind man to Jesus, which he healed in stages. The reason for this is believed that was figurative to the disciples spiritual eyes being opened in order to see who Jesus really was, (Smith 2012:135). The training and preparation of the Twelve reaches its climax during this period. Jesus lets them come to understand why he has come not only who 4
