● Educational Resources Where is the nearest public library? Discuss the Schools and Universities/Community colleges ? The nearest library, the Red Oak Public Library is located on the east side of I35E, located in the City of Red Oak Municipal Center, north of the Red Oak Valley Golf Club. Texas State Technical College is located off 342, south of Ovilla Road, north of the Red Oak Valley Golf Club and offers technical and vocational programs. To attend a community college, the nearest is in Waxahachie, Navarro College in Waxahachie, 12 miles away. To attend the nearest university, Southern Methodist University in Dallas is located 23 miles away. There is one high school in Red Oak, recently constructed, located to the west of 342, across from Whataburger. It is a large high school where the neighboring smaller towns send their children. The high school offers Advanced Placement and Dual Credit programs and is rated among the top 50 in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. There is one Red Oak Middle School located close to the high school, on the west side of highway 342 directly across from the golf club. The mascot for the Red Oak area is the hawk. There are three elementary schools, two of which are located off Ovilla Road within just a few blocks from each other, one is in the more rural area, where the other is in the more populated are of Ovilla Road. The third elementary school is a new construction located off Highway 342 and across from NAVA Tires. On all the school marquees, it is noted that they are supportive of their mascot, The Hawk. Red Oak also has a Life School that is a charter school. This school develops leadership skills and heavily involves the parents of those who attend. Rev. F_2018

Religions What signs of religion do you see? Discuss the types of churches, mosques, temples? What services are offered by these churches, for example, Day Care, Mother’s Day Out, Summer Camps, Languages Classes, Citizenship Classes, Food Banks, Clothing, other . There are many religious organizations in this area. All encourage casual dress, a come as you are approach. First United Methodist Church offers both traditional and contemporary services to appeal to all types of church attendees and even has its own Laugh and Learn Preschool ministry. Vaqueros Cristianos draws the Hispanic population in this area which are noted to be involved in western activities such as horseback riding and rodeos in the local areas. Generals International Inc. draws the more charismatic. Lone Star Cowboy Church is of the Nazarene Faith are community driven and have a food pantry and clothing outreach. Roping and riding classes are also offered to the community. They hold the Red Oak Opry once a month, have game nights once every other week and invite the surrounding communities. They are located on the south side of Ovilla Road in the rural area of Red Oak and is the more popular in the area. Landmark Baptist Church and Journey of Faith Baptist Church have been in the area the longest and the buildings are older and well maintained.
