They spent more money on severance packages and assisting the people laid off in getting a new job. It was quite a mess. I was not one to get laid off but I had several friends whom did and they were a wreck. This turned out to be a complete disaster as the sensitive work being utilized in this foreign country took way more money to keep it secure in the building that it was being worked with. The work was not done properly and had to be returned to be redone. There was a big communication downfall as the two countries were not able to relay the correct directions as to what was needed to be done. The people here ended up doing a bunch of the work. The project was later scrapped after a little over a year and they tried to hire more people to help out with the workload. This is only one unique example that happened to not have worked out but it just shows you what is at risk and that it should be taken seriously because it could affect more than what is anticipated. Thank You, Jerimiah Thread: Question 5: Outsourcing Post: RE: Question 5: Outsourcing Author: Posted Date: February 9, 2016 4:01 AM Status: Published (Post is Read) Bryan, I agree with your points concerning outsourcing. If companies can save money by outsourcing, they are likely to go that route. However, as you mentioned, if being outsourced, the quality of the work may fall. In addition, I feel that a large disadvantage of outsourcing is the impact on the local economy at the location where the jobs are moved from. Finding new employment can be difficult, especially when a large number of folks are searching for employment at the same time and if located in a smaller community. Further, with increased unemployment rates, other businesses in the community are likely to be negatively impacted, such as retail stores. Jenna J Jenna Buettner
