Financial aid is very important in facilitating education. As stated earlier, undocumented students do not have access to federal financial aid and are charged out -of -state tuition in public institutions. Although some states have passed laws allowing these students to pay the same amount as their counterparts(U.S natives),there are organizations such as the Mexican Legal Defense and Education fund that are dedicated to helping undocumented students by offering them scholarships to cater for their college and university studies since most of them come from low income families. According to Kim (2012), the Dream Act also offers a platform for undocumented students to secure slots in universities and secure lawful jobs in the U.S.A. This is because the bill allows current, former and future undocumented high school graduates access to the U.S citizenship through college or the military. This will ensure equal access to government funding and entry into in state tuition fee. Also it is evident that immigration status affect student’s outcome since most of them feel discriminated and are forced to drop out of colleges following high education charges while other do not join institutions of higher learning after high school.
