around since there is a rock that is keeping them away ("The Simpsons - The Bear Patrol and Lisa's Tiger-Repelling Rock", 2009). The false cause fallacy is presented in the claims of Homer. It does not necessarily mean that because the bear patrol is around the bears are not around. This reasoning disqualifies all other possible scenarios that could cause the appearance of the bears an impossibility. This is the same as the rock repelling reasoning approach by Lisa. Just because there are no tigers around it does not mean that the rock is repelling them away. This is a good example of the false cause fallacy since it shows how people may end up forming conclusions out of merely unrelated events. Just as in the definition of a false cause fallacy, the issues are presented in terms of two opposing sides. In this case, the fallacy is that if the bear patrol is not seen around, they are not working hard enough and bears would be seen around. This is wrong since there are so many variables that may cause the bear patrol not to be seen around and also bears not being spotted around the area.
