reported that amongst tech companies, Netflix employees are the most satisfied with their pay. It is no surprise then that in the same study, it reports that Netflix employees are least likely to leave their job. The job satisfaction Netflix has created with their employees has led to an overall lower turnover rate, creating loyal employees who will achieve company standards. Netflix’s main theory in their brilliant organizational culture, is have competent workers who portray “adultlike behaviour”. The company shies away from a formal human resources approach to managing its staff, and instead uses the principal to have a team composed of only people who put the interests of the company first. They employ the policy “Act in Netflix’s best interests” and thus are efficient in work and managing expenses. Netflix has removed formal methods of rewarding such as longer vacations and pay performance bonuses and has also removed annual performance reviews. Netflix is able to remove these typical reward systems because they have workers who are intrinsically motivated. Their workers interests are aligned with the company as well as the need to do the best at their jobs. During the recruitment process Netflix specifically looks for potential employees who will put the company’s interests first and rely on logic when making decisions, thus allowing them to have autonomy in their jobs. Open conversation about issues and performance are strongly encouraged between bosses and subordinates, as these allow for better feedback about workers performance. The strategies Netflix has taken on over the years has greatly impacted the growing performance of their company, making it one of the largest companies to this day. Though it can be argued that it is one of the best seen applicable approaches in motivation, it however cannot be said that it is the only strategy to use. This strategy works with Netflix because of the industry and type of company Netflix is, but this application will not carry forth to every single type of organization out there.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
