- someone with anorexia will experience changes in their cognition having to do with poor body image to an extreme, high overestimates of weight and body proportions and tend to hold perfectionist attitudes. They often don’t feel disordered and believe that anorexia is healthy and being thin is perfection. They internalize scieties ideals about body image so much that they are willing to harm themselves to achieve the “perfect” body. How does bulimia differ from anorexia nervosa? • someone who has bulimia will eat food but they will later try and get rid of the calories by vomiting or taking laxatives. They may also try and compensate for the calories they have taken in by fasting or excessively working out. The onset is also older than anorexia and starts around high school or college. Someone with bulimia will get a rush from eating the food but it is then followed by shame and guilt so they feel like they have to compensate. Another difference is that someone with bulimia knows what they are doing is harmful whereas someone with anorexia doesn’t. If I said 100% of sex workers performed their job on the street, are addicted to drugs, and were coerced into the work at a very young age, what would be incorrect about that statement and why? - it would be incorrect because street based workers only account for 10 percent of the sex work population and are working under much more dangerous conditions and circumstances. Research is mostly done with street workers so there is not an accurate representation of all sex workers. Most of the individuals working on the street are forced and are traficed to Lecture – contraception/pregnancy Why should individuals taking hormonal contraceptives to prevent pregnancy combine them with other forms of contraception, particularly if they aren’t in a stable long -term relationship but are still sexually active? - because hormonal contraception only helps prevent pregnancy. It does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases. It is also easy to make a mistake while taking hormonal contraception so it is safer to use a back up method to ensure you are having the safest sex possible for both partners.
