This may not be really obvious when seeing just one advertisement but after viewing multiple advertisements that have been created within the last decade, the racism in these advertisements is very noticeable to the plain commoner’s eye. Even though we do not see immediate results when trying to put an end to the racism that exists in our society, we are seeing a gradual change in it. They should try to become more aware of the content they put into the media and realize that their attempts are not comical but actually detrimental to the feelings and self-confidence of different individuals. Also, as society changes, the portrayal of the “ideal” person is changing as well which should make advertisements less racist in this sense. If advertisers open their eyes to their actions and realize what the perceptions of their viewers will be before releasing even borderline racist advertisements, we can see a more rapid change with racism in advertising in today’s society. This is all that most people affected personally by these advertisements hope for when wishing and looking for change. Sangode
