The third member of our team has experience working for a successful coffee shop as a barista, as well as multiple years of experience working in all facets of running a local branch of an international nonprofit. With the nonprofit he did the bookkeeping, budgeting, marketing, program and event management, staff management and training, and fundraising to make his branch successful. One of the upsides of franchising with Black Rock Coffee is that the some of the businessskills that we lack are taken out of the equation by using their name and products. The fact that we don’t have in depth knowledge of the best types of coffee beans, syrups or chocolate powdersis made up for by the fact that you buy those items directly from the corporate office that does have detailed knowledge of what is best. The other business skills that we lack such as accounting, business law and the necessary insurance we need can be covered by hiring the right advisors. One of our team members has access to mentors who have opened their own very successful coffee shops, independent and franchised, who are willing to share their experiences and expertise.
