Yugoslavia were communist and a thousand years ago was its own little independent kingdom along with Montenegro; - on and off for 1000 or 1100 years montegnegro was its own little kingdom/viketom that had negotiations/ relationships with bigger powers all around it that it was always - kindof semi-independent & it didn’t get fully overrun depending on if there was a big empire or kingdom around it but it always had relationships that were a little separate or a little different or a little bit of autonomy- this was for 1000 years - It wasn’t until the Ottoman Empire , overtook most of the Balcan Peninula that this place got overrun by Ottoman Empire, but even then , they fought back & these folks, bc of the terrain , there were independent warrior city-states in cotor that still standing til this day - Tough places to get into but easier to defend - When the Ottoman’s took over, they still seem to have a sense of autonomy relationship with so they wanted to negotiate with the hill people - When the Ottoman empire kind of went away during World War I, this area kindof gained autonomy again a little bit then the whole area became (which used to be UgoSlavia) the
kingdom of Serbia bc even after the territory went, the area was owned by the Austrian-Hugarian empire which also lost in World War I - Through the Ottomons they were semi-autonomous, through the Austrian-hugarian they were semi-autonomous , - then when the Austrian-hugarians went away after WW1, this place kindof became independent & was absorbed by the kingdom of Serbia which only laster for about 5 or 6 years & then it became the kingdom of ugslavia (serbs) - THEN it became the Greater Kingdom of Ugloslavia when the Serbs entered a negotiation with the Croats & the Sloaveans to form a bigger area,
