Homeostatic Imbalance 5.3 Paranasal Sinuses & Sinusitis -The paranasal sinuses surround the nasal cavity -these sinuses lighten the skull bones and amplify sounds when we speak -The paranasal sinuses contain mucosa lining that is consistent with the nose and throat -Because of that infections can end up in the paranasal sinuses thus causing sinusitis -Sinusitis can cause a great deal of pain such as a headache or upper jaw pain

Homeostatic imbalance 5.4 Herniated discs -with old age a lot of things in the body start to slow down or speed up and certain things begin to dry out -Such as our vertebral discs, as you age your discs begin to dry up and ligaments near the column also become weakened -This leads to the risk factor of herniated discs, which occurs when the soft center of a spinal disk pushes through a crack in the tougher exterior casing -elderly people are more likely to have this issue but it can still happen to anyone -it can also occur when the vertebral column is subjected to exceptional twisting forces
