The agency should make clear all the skills and background abilities that are required for the recruits to meet all the requirements that are needed to guarantee success in community policing. Improper Hiring Practices There are some activities by the recruitment agencies that are considered inappropriate. The highest contributor to these practices is corruption. Some heads of departments choose to hire unqualified personnel in return for financial benefits. Every profession has the minimum standards that have to be met for one to be employed. The police force is no exception, and it also has a set number of rules that have to be met before one gets certified. These standards include a valid driving license, valid academic qualifications, and lack of criminal records among others. But you find in some agencies; these standards are ignored by the very people who are tasked with the protection of this profession. They end up hiring friends and relatives with very minimal qualifications or those who accept to offer cash in exchange. This has proven time and again to be a significant threat to service delivery and community policing.
