6. Use at least 3 sources for researching your comments on this work of art and include appropriate citations within the text and in your list of references. Introduction to Final Assignment (There will be about 5-6 presentations over a period of 3 class sessions.) Following are some topic ideas for your final presentation and 3-page paper. However, you should create your own topic or personalize the suggestions below: 1. Clothing as a cultural symbol 2. The visual presentation of family stories as cultural myth or cultural reality 3. Movie depictions of ethnic and cultural “realities” created by non-members of the group depicted 4. Book covers as carriers of cultural and ethic characteristics 5. Children’s books as culture carriers After creating your topic do the following: 1. Create a thesis statement that focuses the reader and the writing that follows. Be sure that this statement is engaging. 2. Create a question that you want to ask the reader about your thesis. 3. Develop your argument/position 4. Use references (at least 3) that support your position/argument 5. Conclude by telling the reader how you are answering the question presented 6. For your 5-minute, in-class presentation, create a PowerPoint or use some other presentation format a. do not read directly from your slides; use the slides as prompts that provide the most important information b. address the content from your paper
