Assignments:Within Pearson'sMyLab and Mastering, you will find assignments that correlatewith what is listed within each Module. Most of these assignments are Dynamic Learning Modules.A few of them are called a Quiz or Module Assignment. These assignments will will get you pointsfor each module and count towards your grade. They are designed to help you focus your studyingon the areas you are most unclear so that you are well prepared for the Midterm and Final Exams.Questions on the quizzes will bear a great similarity to questions that will appear on exams. Youwill also findoptionalhomework assignments on the Pearson website. This optional homeworkincludes activities and quizzes covering the lesson material and is a good way to help study.Exams:There will be a midterm exam and final exam. Questions on the midterm and final will bemostly multiple choice and true/false, which a couple short essay. Material covered in exams willinclude assigned readings from the book and your homework assignments. Both midterm and finalexams are timed, taken online and non-proctored.They may only be taken onceand may not bepreviewed or copied prior to submitting.Biology in the News: This post will be abiology related article that was covered in the news. Newssources need to be reputable - several links are provided on the forum. This article must have comeout withinthree weeks of your posting. Also,EACH post must beunique and tell a different story- so check all of the postings before yours. The latter of the two duplicate postings will bededucted 15 points (as if it were a late assignment.)You will write a summary that outlines thescientific method followed in the research and comment on the significance of the finding.
Participation Forum:each student will have to participate inSIX Discussion Forumsfor a total of45 points. They must be done before the final due date. For full points, posts must have the rightformat and follow the posting guidelines present on the post.Late participation forum posts willreceive a lower grade.These posts are different from the Course Questions Posts required forProfessionalism points.Professionalism: This covers aspects of academic life that positively enhance the learningenvironment for your classmates and instructor. Professional effectiveness will get you extra credit.Do one or either of these to earn points.1. Posting TWO questions or helpful responses to a question on the "Course Related Questions"Forum.2. Following all email etiquette guidelines (see below).
