DiscussionIn this experiment, first Borax was dissolved with water and then hydrated (Na2B4O7 ●10H20 ->2Na++B405(OH)42-+8H20 ). Then the teratbromate solution was titrated with HCl so that it was neutralized ( B405(OH)42-+2H++3 H20-> 4H3BO3). By measuring the amount of HCl needed to neutralize a saturated solution of Borax the concentration of tetraborate anions could be measured and thus the relationship between Ksp and temperature could be determined. In general, as temperature increased the Ksp also rose meaning that the amount of Borax which can be dissolved in water increases with the temperature of water.
