I Have a Question: Why should I care about any of this? I am living my life just fine. Some people overanalyze everything! To paraphrase Socrates, “ The unexamined life is not worth living .” If I could change those words—with apologies to Socrates—I would say that an examined life is much more satisfying and worth living than an unexamined one. You may feel that life is going well right now, but it will not always be so, for disappointment and suffering enter every life. Just read along and see whether any of these ideas prove helpful to you. And remember, it is a valuable life you are living, and therefore it is worth thinking about. Some Terms to Think About: Christian world and life view. o A worldview is not just a list of beliefs but a living view; not just an academic endeavor but a personal one as well. Your Christian beliefs are first and foremost personal, affecting not just your mind but all of you and your daily life. Open-mindedness.
o To be open-minded means to be open to something other than what you already believe. Not one of us is perfect in knowing truth. Therefore, being open-minded to other possibilities for truth is a continuing self-test in your discovery of truth. You can still hold strongly to your beliefs, but you must be humble enough to keep your mind open to other possibilities. Worldview. o A worldview is a set of beliefs about reality and human nature. I will give more complete definitions of this important concept in later chapters.
