then doesn’t that suggest that as a man exercises his priesthood worthily and honorably, he receives a remission of his sins in the process? Could it be that combining the power of the priesthood and the faith of the afflicted with the will of God not only results in the healing of the body but also the spirit? Certainly there are many recorded instances where sins are forgiven without the person being sick or afflicted and apparently without a priesthood blessing. But seeking for further understanding, at least in these two instances a definite connection is made between faith, healing, the priesthood, the will of God and the remission of sins. Having considered the different possible scenarios there seems to be one area remaining which is a vital key to improving our abilities to understand the Will of the Father. It is one thing to say we must align ourselves with His Holy Will as we exercise our faith or as we attempt to use His Priesthood, it is another potentially frustrating task to know how to do it. The answer seems to be resident in two factors: 1) peace, and 2) the presence and power of the Spirit. When concerned about how to tell where the Lord wanted them to go and what He wanted them to do when they arrived there, Joseph Smith received a revelation stating: “And the place where it is my will that you should tarry, for the main, shall be signalized unto you by the peace and power of my Spirit, that shall flow unto you” (D&C 111:8, emphasis added). Then to believe that either the person exercising faith or the priesthood bearer who is giving the blessing must hear a voice or see a vision (both of which are possible but not necessary) would place them both in a position where the Lord’s will was not recognized. Peace, it appears, comes only from and by following the “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6)-- the Savior. The First Presidency, recognizing that peace was in large measure being taken from the earth said: “To those who yearn for peace, we announce that it may be found with the 18

Prince of Peace. Even in these tumultuous times the individual who turns to Christ can find the inner peace that surpasses understanding. (“First Presidency—Christmas Message,” Church News [15 December 1985]: 3, also found in Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson , p.701). When Oliver Cowdery began to doubt the reality of the golden plates from which the Book of Mormon was being translated and questioned his ability to recognize when God was answering his prayers and when Oliver just wanted the translation to be right, the Lord gave some timely instruction. He said: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, if you desire a further witness, cast your mind upon the night that you cried unto me in your heart, that you might know concerning the truth of these things. Did I not speak peace to your mind concerning the matter?

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
