A data provider in the .NET Framework serves as a bridge between an application and a data source. A data provider is used to retrieve data from a data source and to reconcile changes to that data back to the data source. These are components that have been explicitly designed for data manipulation, read-only access to data. ADO.NET provides data access services in the Microsoft .NET platform. You can use ADO.NET to access data by using the new .NET Framework data providers which are: 1. Data provider for Microsoft Access and SQL server à (System.Data) o Describes a collection of classes used to manage data for several types of databases, including Microsoft Access and SQL server. Some of the important classes of System.Data are a) DataSet The DataSet class of the System.Data namespace stores an in- memory representation of data returned through the OleDbDataAdapter It is explicitly designed for data access independent of any data source. As a result, it can be used with multiple and differing data sources, used with XML data, or used to manage data local to the application. The DataSet contains a collection of one or more DataTable objects made up of rows and columns of data, as well as primary key, foreign key, constraint, and relation information about the data in the DataTable objects.

Data Provider for OLEDB à (System.Data.OleDb). o OLEDB stands for Object Linking and Embedding DataBase. o System.Data.OleDb namespace is the.NET Framework Data Provider for OLE DB. o Uses System.Data.Oledb namespace for connecting Microsoft Access database o Describes a collection of classes used to send and receive the data between your application and database using a software component known as generic provider.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
