This indicates a direct relationship between the voltage and the load resistance but large variation occurs since no component exists to maintain the input voltage and voltage output across the voltage divider. This results in an exponential curve. However, with the addition of a voltage follower operational amplifier, the relationship between the load resistance and voltage is better represented by a decreasing linear function. The direct relationship is maintained between voltage and load resistance even after a voltage follower circuit is added. The voltage follower shows more consistent values. A voltage follower has a gain of one, has the ability to reduce current flow, and allows to maintain consistent voltage throughout regardless of resistance resulting in more consistent values for voltage.
