4 These all are the branches of hate crime which weakens the bondage among the people, community and society and disturb the peace and relationship within the state/country or between the countries. REASONS FOR HATE CRIMES The main and most central reason for hate crimes in a country is “Regionalism”. Definition of Regionalism- It is the attachment to the particular region. It is the love of a particular region in preference to country. The feeling of regionalism produce more allegiances and love for one’s own region and people, society of own country as compared to the other components of the same society. This gives rise to feeling of hater and separate existence, feeling of being distinct from the other part of country. The conscious of this separate existence is due to economic, social and geographic reasons. FACTORS RESPONSIBLE 1. Religious factors- Multi religious states like America where people of different religions live. Then there people following a particular religion happens to gather in a particular region of country, their political aspirations can also be aroused. For example- a) The clash between Christianity and Judaism. b) And conflict between Muslims and Christianity especially after 9/11. 2. Historical factors – Prolonged slavery and rule of one dominant power in other part of world has also developed the sense of regionalism among the people of countries. People from slave countries are not able to get proper status when they move in to the super

5 power country. Like when people of Africa move in to the America they get the different treatment. They divide the people on the bases of caste, race, religion and color etc. 3. Linguistic factor-Like religion, language has also played a special role in awakening of the hate crimes. And countries like USA where people of different background reside, so there is definitely possibility of multi-language use in same region. And as renowned scholar named Morris Jones holds the view that where as language has strengthened internal unity, it has also given rise to many problems. These linguistic differences remind people about their separate existence and hence give rise to hate among people. 4. Influence of caste- when people of particular caste gets concentrated in a particular region of country, when they get in majority then there is possibility of suppression of minor caste which in turn can hurt the sentiments of their people and create a feeling of hate among them and the world has witnessed many incidents which result into killing of mass and the extrusion of minorities from a particular region.
