Managers have broad knowledge about the requirements of the jobs. Therefore, they have the best opportunity to observer what the employees are functioning. However, in some situations the managers do not have the adequate opportunities to observe all the process of working of the employees such as the outside sale jobs. Secondly, peers are also the good source of information about performance management. They have proficient knowledge about the job requirements. Furthermore, in day-to-day activities peers have the clear views to inspect the activities of other employees. Also, many different perspectives about the evaluation process can also be collected from the views of peers. The third source is from the direct reports. Employees report directly to the managers. This is one of the most valuable sources of information when the managers need evaluated. The next important sources of information are the employees or managers report by themselves. It is also one of the most valuable sources of information. The employees’ behavior is best observed by themselves. Because they have the best opportunities to view their activities.
