9. From your plot of 5 . E6,max, what is the value for ? Hint: The coil has a resistance ? ?? ? of 0.5Ω . M= -sigma2/derivative(i1) M=-1/(slope of graph 3) M=-1/(.2744)=-3.64 10. What is the emf induced in the secondary coil when its face is oriented perpendicular (? = 90°) to the face of the primary coil? How is this consistent with Faraday’s Law as stated at the top of the lab? Zero. Since cosine theta = 0, flux equals zero thus Faraday’s law gives 0 as well. 11. In a brief paragraph, summarize this lab. You should include a summation of the major themes of the lab, as well as brief descriptions of your procedures, analytical methods, results, and conclusions. We investigated how to determine the pole of a magnet by observing the change in voltage when inserting it through a coil. First we determined the direction of the coil. When the South end is inserted through a clockwise coil, the Voltage will be positive. When the South end is inserted through a counterclockwise coil, the Voltage will be negative. The opposite would be true when the North end is inserted through a coil.

We then used an oscilloscope to observe the signals through two coils. The shape of the first wave form showed the signal and the shape of the second wave forms showed the derivative of the first signal.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
