to float Pipkin across, demonstrating teamwork and problem-solving skills that are usually not associated with animals such as rabbits. Even though Adam’s rabbits are completely fictional, he does make them retain the characteristics and capabilities of actual rabbits. This results in unique characters that readers find enjoyable to connect with and discover. One unique aspect to this book is Adam’s regular use of “rabbit language” throughout the novel. Some readers may find this an interesting element of the text. However, others may find it annoying and frustrating to repeatedly come across words such as “Owslafa” and flip to the rabbit language glossary at the end of the book just to understand its meaning. To me, it seems like an unnecessary adjustment to make in your brain while reading the book, which can interfere with your “train of thoughts.” Of course, this is not a major problem, since most readers will get used to it, but is something to be aware of while trying to understanding the plot. Overall, I definitely recommend this book to future readers, especially those with wild imaginations. The characters and plot of the novel are very well developed and unique. This novel explains the importance of perseverance, leadership, and teamwork through a very exciting story of intelligent talking rabbits trying to find a new home. If you enjoy fictional stories with lots of twists and turns in the plot, Watership Down by Richard Adams is the book for you!
