Essay Question Comment on the following case as if you were an ethics consultant, required to give a recommendation to the attending physician who has asked for your help. Case Ashley, a severely disabled six year old girl, was brought to Children’s Hospital in Seattle by her parents. Doctors diagnosed her condition as static encephalopathy. This condition causes Ashley severe intellectual and physical disabilities. She is unable to walk, talk, or even move herself to change position when lying down. It is thought that her cognitive ability is similar to that of a 3-month old infant. She lives at home with her parents and two younger siblings. She is said to enjoy the lights and sounds of TV, music, and the company and embraces of her family. Ashley’s parents are requesting a series of medical interventions to help them care for Ashley.
