communications and some of them use indirect communication when they are communicating inthe group. I think this occurs as the group is culturally varied. Nida writes, “Communicationacross different cultures has different meanings, therefore knowledge of other cultures is key toeffective communication.”A concept known as empowering and mentoring will also be applied. In his book,Lingenfelter describes why it is essential for leaders to encourage their disciples to developleaders like themselves. He writes, “One cannot raise and empower leaders without creatingopportunities for them to lead”. The concept can be applied today by letting the followers of thegroup to principal the group in Bible studies infrequently. This will facilitate members the self-confidence to connect efficiently within their group.Research Part 3Challenges for the church in communicating Gospel across cultures and worldviews7
According to the numerous articles and various textbooks that I read from differentlibraries, I have developed a conclusion based solely on the knowledge attained by them, Ibelieve that many challenges exist when it comes to communicating and spreading the messageacross by Gospel not only through cultures but also worldwide. These challenges can include anumber of things, including but not limited to the lack of cultural intelligence, the bias that existsin culture, prejudice, lack of proper communication with leaders, and inability to be flexible withcommunicators of culture. These components form the hurdles that exist in the church whencommunicating the gospel across cultures and worldviews. Ting-Toomey and Chang write, “Tobe flexible intercultural communicators, we must communicate with adaptability and creativityand develop a set of principled ethics to guide our every- day behaviors.”1It is imperious for thechurch to grow the knowledge of principles and ethics so that everyone is able to express anddisplay the love of Christ. It is important that we are culturally aware of our environment. Thechurch must begin to train leaders so they are able to reach anyone locally or globally to increasereach, this can be implemented through culturally based programs and culturally inspiredsettings. It is always said that the best solution to overcome a challenge is when we face it.Challenges in communicating the GospelThe challenges that we face when trying to communicate the Gospel from beingcommunicated interculturally are the churches attitude towards the cause. The body of Christ isbursting with His believers who are prejudiced, bias, conventional, perilous, and intolerant. Many of the believers do not refer to church in this way, but it is observed all around the world. The basis for this is the start of these values to be communicated. The Word of God does notindicate to different values or a specific way to worship Him, but it does communicate to us in1Ibid.,261.
