Audiometric testing and evaluation is outlined in 29 CFR 1910.195(g). This is the testing that employers should conduct on every employee every year to check for any hearing loss. 29 CFR 1910.195(g)(1) states “The employer shall establish and maintain an audiometric testing program as provided in this paragraph by making audiometric testing available to all employees whose exposures equal or exceed an 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 decibels.” (OSHA, 2008). The final part of a hearing conservation program is the training and education of employees. This is a very important part of the program. This is where the employer, safety person or industrial hygienist have the opportunity to instill good hearing protection work habits in the employee. This way the employee will be taught the correct habits to maintain to protect their hearing and the importance of the program. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. (2008, December 12). The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
